On June 6, Ensure Charity presents "Ensure Change," a summit for leaders in social responsibility, featuring keynote speakers Tony Robbins and Ken Blanchard
As the economy shifts and new generational thinking emerges, philanthropy faces unique challenges. A new San Diego company is tackling those challenges, redefining giving in an era of increasing social consciousness.
"Ensure Charity is a model that’s been created on the premise of creative capitalism—the combination of capitalism and philanthropy," explains Josh Jenkins-Robbins, founder and managing principal of Ensure Charity. "It’s calling on companies where we can create a system that profits and simultaneously gives back—it’s an alignment of interests."
Launched in February, Ensure Charity is a financial services company that helps clients seeking annuities and life insurance policies access products that best fit their needs. Ensure then allows clients to direct 50 percent of commissions to the charity of their choice.
"It’s found money for the charity," says Jenkins-Robbins. "Plus, owners get to feel good and know they used a socially conscious company."
For Jenkins-Robbins, a Del Mar native, San Diego was a natural fit for Ensure Charity.
"California has more nonprofits than any state and is on the forefront of social responsibility," he says. "People are very business savvy here; it’s the perfect proving ground and the perfect market."
On June 6, Ensure Charity presents "Ensure Change," a summit for leaders in social responsibility, featuring keynote speakers Tony Robbins and Ken Blanchard and a panel of chief executive officers of four local nonprofits.
Held at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, the event is designed for "a whole movement of social entrepreneurs who are committed to integrating capitalism and philanthropy into one synergistic model that will create sustainable change," Jenkins-Robbins explains.
"It’s about a shift in psychology," he says. "I want this to ignite a spark in people’s desire not just to be philanthropic but to be creative in how they give back."
